VHS SYNOPSIS: It's Halloween Night, and the local teenagers have unwittingly unleashed an ancient curse that will turn their quiet New England town upside down! A group of uninvited guests-ghouls, ghosts, vampires and angry zombies-leave the graveyard to join in the Halloween celebration! Now, the spirited teens have only a few hours until midnight to reverse the curse, and save the town from the ghastly visitors. The result is a hilarious blend of humor and horror.
The Midnight Hour is an enjoyable cross between Night of the Living Dead and An American Werewolf in London (Video Movie Guide), a treat filled with tricks and entertainment for the whole family!
WIKIPEDIA: The Midnight Hour is a 1985 American made for TV comedy/horror film that aired on ABC on Friday, November 1, 1985, at 9:00-11:00 PM EST. It stars Shari Belafonte-Harper, LeVar Burton, Peter DeLuise, and Dedee Pfeiffer. The film marks Macaulay Culkin's first screen role as an uncredited trick-or-treater. In addition to an original musical number, "Get Dead", the film's soundtrack features songs by Creedence Clearwater Revival, Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs, Three Dog Night, and The Smiths.
Vidmark released The Midnight Hour on VHS in May 1989. The film was then re-released by Anchor Bay Entertainment on VHS on July 20, 1999 and then DVD on September 19, 2000. Both releases of the film are out of print and are extremely rare among collectors.
Gary Militzer of DVD Verdict called it "a mediocre made-for-TV horror/comedy" that was not worthy of being released on DVD. Writing in The Zombie Movie Encyclopedia, academic Peter Dendle said, "Even zombie movie completists will have a hard time stomaching this lame made-for-TV drivel".
